Omuro Kiln Iroe Iwatake Mizusashi Single Spout Lacquered Lid Shared Box Tea Ceremony Utensil
Omuro Kiln (Omurogama) is a representative kiln of Kyo-yaki (Ninse-yaki), founded by Ninsei Nonomura in the early Edo period (1640s) in front of the gate of Ninna-ji Temple in Kyoto.
This is a ceramic mizusashi (freshwater container) decorated with patterns of rocks and bamboo. Rocks and bamboo are elegantly depicted in colored glazes, combining both splendor and restraint. It is highly valued for use during the furo (brazier) season (spring and summer) and for elegant tea ceremonies.
